The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (“Authority”) is committed to ensuring that no person is discriminated against based on race, color, national origin, or disability, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act “ADA” and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 at the San Diego International Airport (“SDIA”). We strive to provide accessible facilities and services to all travelers.

Title VI Coordinator
Persons with disabilities or their representatives may contact the Airport Authority’s Customer Relations Coordinator or ADA Coordinator for airport facility-related needs. Please contact your airline directly for wheelchair assistance.

Wheelchair Assistance

Wheelchair services are available for travelers at San Diego International Airport. To request these services, please reach out to your airline's accessibility department. We recommend making these arrangements prior to your travel.

TSA Cares Program

TSA Cares is a helpline provided by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) that helps travelers with disabilities, medical conditions, and other special circumstances. This service aims to provide personalized support to ensure a smooth and efficient experience through security checkpoints. Passengers can contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours before their travel to arrange for assistance, including guidance through security screening processes, information about what to expect, and coordination with TSA officers to address specific needs. SAN Assist

San Diego International Airport (SAN) offers SAN Assist for travelers with non-visible disabilities like chronic illness, or autism.

With SAN Assist, passengers can request a Travel Guide for support on the day of travel or a Familiarization Tour for practice prior to a future trip. For wheelchair services, passengers must contact their airline.

SAN Assist may include:

  • Guidance to TSA security locations
    • For assistance with security screening processing, please reach out to TSA Cares
  • Help navigating airport terminals

Travel Guides must be requested at least three (3) business days in advance and can be scheduled daily between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm. Familiarization Tours should be requested at least 2-3 weeks prior to the planned date of travel and are available Monday - Friday during business hours. All services are subject to availability.
SAN Assist Form

ADA and Title VI Complaints

Anyone who believes they have been subjected to discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in services related to an event at the San Diego International Airport can file a Title VI complaint. Complaints must typically be filed within 180 days from the date of the alleged discrimination.
