Reporting Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Ethics Violations at the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority
The Office of the Chief Auditor (OCA) administers the Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Ethics program at the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (Authority). Employees and members of the public may report on potential violations utilizing either a telephone “hotline” or an online form. Reports of violations that are not within the jurisdiction of the OCA may be referred to other relevant Authority departments for investigation.
- The hotline and online form are not forums for employment-related grievances or complaints. The Authority’s workplace standards and procedures provide methods for resolution of these issues.
- Knowingly submitting a false complaint is an unethical behavior.
Confidentiality
The OCA maintains confidentiality of all tips, reports, and associated materials to the maximum extent permitted by law. The confidentiality of the complainant is also protected and will not be released without prior written permission, unless required by law. Individuals have the option to file complaints anonymously; however, filing an anonymous complaint makes it more challenging to investigate the allegation.
Whistleblower Protection
The Authority
Code
protects all employees that act in good faith to report on: work related violations, gross waste of Authority funds, gross abuse of power, conflict of interests, dangers to public health, or the use of an Authority position for personal gain. Additionally, individuals that bring matters to the attention of the OCA may be protected under the California Whistleblower Protection Act.
