It’s bound to happen. You pack your bags, check it twice, but somewhere between your home and final destination, you lost a thing or two. Could be something small or something large, but somehow it just disappeared.

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, which operates San Diego International Airport (SAN), is governed by a nine-member Board whose members are appointed by elected officials representing all areas of San Diego County. This year, we are welcoming a new Board Chair and four new Board members who are replacing members whose three-year terms have ended. With the new appointments, the Airport Authority Board is now comprised of regional leaders including five women and four men.

New nonstop routes are always exciting but, what we love even more is gaining new nonstop routes to cities that aren’t currently available from SAN. So when Allegiant recently announced that SAN will gain seasonal nonstop service to five new cities as soon as May…well, let’s just say we are jumping for joy.

Allegiant will soon add seasonal nonstop service from five U.S. cities to San Diego International Airport (SAN). All five cities are new to SAN’s nonstop network and will bring Allegiant’s total nonstop destination offering to 12 during the peak summer travel season.

The Airport Innovation Lab at San Diego International Airport (SAN) has launched its fifth accelerator program, this one focusing on health and safety at airports. 

San Diego International Airport (SAN) served 9.2 million passengers in 2020, a 63 percent decrease over 2019’s record-breaking passenger number of 25.2 million. The decrease is directly attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic which began impacting passenger traffic at SAN in March 2020.

On January 9, 2020, the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Board of Directors certified the Final Environmental Impact Report for the Airport Development Plan (ADP), which envisions the replacement of the 53-year-old Terminal 1 at San Diego International Airport.

Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas has been appointed to the Board of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, filling the seat of Imperial Beach City Councilmember Mark West, whose term expires January 31, 2021.
