Spirit Airlines has celebrated its first nonstop flight from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to Oakland, Calif. via Metropolitan Oakland International Airport (OAK). This is the first new route Spirit Airlines has added at SAN since 2017.
“I would like to congratulate Spirit Airlines on their first flight to Oakland from SAN,” said Kimberly Becker, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority President and CEO. “This new service provides another option for San Diegans to get to the Bay Area. We appreciate Spirit Airlines for adding to its route offerings at SAN.
Oakland is just across the Bay from San Francisco. Its urban and diverse neighborhoods are home to boutique shops that sell locally crafted clothing and items; restaurants, eateries, and pop-ups that serve culinary delights represented by the multicultural population that makes up the community; and artists that provide the city with its creative expression.
Flights operate between Oakland and San Diego once daily. Spirit Airlines also offers year-round nonstop service from SAN to Las Vegas via Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and summer seasonal service to Houston via George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Detroit via Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW).
