Amiel Porta, New Director of Airside & Terminal Operations at San Diego International Airport (SAN)

San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is proud to continue cultivating our culture by developing our workforce into future leaders. We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Amiel Porta as our next Director of Airside & Terminal Operations at San Diego International Airport (SAN)! After a nationwide search, he was selected for this role. His leadership and expertise will continue to shape the exceptional airport experience.

Amiel Porta started as an intern in 2000 with the Airport Operations and Properties departments. From 2001 to 2013, he served as Terminal Operations Coordinator, and since 2013, he has led as the Manager of Terminal Operations. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in providing his knowledge in terminal operations for major construction projects, including the Federal Inspection Services facility that opened in 2018 and our current New T1 project. Under his leadership, Terminal Operations expanded our customer relations programs, fostering growth in volunteer and airport therapy dog programs which enhance passenger experiences with a smile and a wag!

In 2020, he led the effort which earned SAN the Airport Council International World’s Airport Health Accreditation, that recognized our commitment to health and safety during the pandemic. He is a proud alum of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a B.S. in Technical Management and actively contributes to industry discussions through the Airport Cooperative Research Program.

Please join us in congratulating Amiel Porta on his well-deserved promotion! We are excited for the next chapter of excellence that his leadership will bring to SAN's Airside & Terminal Operations teams.
