9/22/2023  San Diego International Airport Certifies More than Half of All Restaurants and Retail Shops as SAN Green Concessions

Thirty Airport Food and Beverage and Retail Shops Rated as Environmentally Friendly

More than half of all restaurants and retail shops at San Diego International Airport (SAN) have been certified as SAN Green Concessions in recognition of their significant efforts to conserve energy and water and reduce waste.

9/19/2023  British Airways to Increase Flights to London from San Diego International Airport

Double-daily service begins in April 2024, with the additional flights available for sale starting today

British Airways announced today it will increase its nonstop service with a second daily flight between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) effective April 20, 2024. 

9/15/2023  San Diego International Airport Collaborates with East Village Brewing and Water Works, Inc. to Release Beers Made from Purified Condensate

The beers are currently on tap at The East Village Brewing Company and at concessions in Terminal 2

San Diego International Airport (SAN), Water Works, Inc., and The East Village Brewing Company celebrate the production of beers made with purified condensate collected through the airport’s water stewardship program. Initially released in December 2022, Hoppy Travels IPA is a West Coast IPA with flavors of grapefruit and guava.  A new seasonal release, Cruising Ale-titude is a honey ale with flavors of floral, honey, and cracker. The beers are currently on tap at The East Village Brewing Company and are also available at concessions in Terminal 2. 

9/13/2023  Lufthansa Expands Nonstop Service to Germany from San Diego International Airport

Expanded service begins in April 2024, with additional flights available for sale starting today

Lufthansa Airlines announced yesterday it will increase its nonstop service between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Munich, Germany via Franz Josef Strauss International Airport (MUC) by 70 percent beginning in April 2024.

9/6/2023  San Diego International Airport Advises Passengers Coming to SAN to Anticipate Delays due to SB I-5 Closure September 8-11

Tips for Getting to the Airport

San Diego International Airport advises travelers heading to the airport the weekend of September 8-11 to anticipate traffic delays on southbound Interstate 5 (I-5). All southbound traffic on I-5 will be rerouted to I-8 east for Caltrans road work. The closure will last from 9 p.m. on Friday, September 8, through 5 a.m. on Monday, September 11.

San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (Airport Authority) will host “Meet the Primes” on September 7, 2023, from 5-7 p.m., at the Balboa Park Club Ballroom, 2150 Pan American West Road in San Diego. Hosted by the Airport Authority’s Small Business Development Program, “Meet the Primes” is a free annual networking event uniquely designed to connect the business community with San Diego International Airport (SAN), prime contractors and concessionaires, public agencies, banks, businesses and financial support services, and regional partners.

7/21/2023  San Diego International Airport Arts Program Unveils A Necessary Departure Temporary Exhibition

San Diego International Airport’s (SAN) Arts Program has completed the installation of its latest temporary exhibition A Necessary Departure, located throughout Terminal 2 pre-and-post security. A Necessary Departure is a collection of works from 17 local artists and organizations that examines personal transformations and how our community has remade itself after the pandemic. Pieces speak to themes that developed out of this unique period in history, through the lens of San Diegans who experienced it in their own ways.
