Sundt Construction, Inc. is currently in the design phase of the new Airport Administration Building which will be relocating Airport Authority personnel from the original Commuter Terminal to the West Side of the Airport along McCain Road. The project is a Progressive Design-Build and we will begin phased construction after completion of 60% design documents. Demolition of the old office trailer compound along McCain road will begin in December 2021 and the overall project will complete in late 2023.

This project is a component of the ADP implementation and includes a replacement of the Authority’s existing administration building. The location of the existing Airport Administration building (old Commuter Terminal) is in conflict with the proposed Terminal and Roadways and Airside Improvements projects such that these projects cannot be completed until the Authority is moved into the new building and has completed the demolition of the existing administration building. The Authority intends for the Project to be completed as quickly and cost-effectively as possible to minimize potential delays to the other Authority projects.

The project includes construction of a new four (4) story Building of approximately 130,000 square feet and relocation of the following existing major functions (key project features) from the current Authority administration building:

  1. Authority administrative offices
  2. Authority Board room
  3. Airport innovation lab
  4. Authority staff & fleet vehicle parking
  5. Group fitness facility.

The project is scheduled to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council with a design team led by Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum (HOK).

Design/Construction Team includes:
  • Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum (HOK) – Architects
  • Snipes-Dye Associates – Civil Engineers (Local, SBE)
  • Group Delta – Geotech (Local)
  • KPFF – Structural Engineer (Local)

The Terminal will be built in two phases with the first 19 gates opening in Q2, 2025 and the remaining 11 gates completing in Q4 2027.
